Throughout Lent, Mass will be held on a Tuesday Lunchtime. Stations fo the Cross will be held every Thursdary Lunchtime and the Rosary every Friday lunchtime. These will all take place in the School Oratory.Mass will be celebrated every Friday morning at 8.30am in the School Theatre. This is open to parents and the wider community alongside pupils and staff.

Easter School will be held on the 8th April - 10th April from 9.30am to 1.30pm. The list of subjects offered over these days are available within the Pupil Area of the website.
50 of our pupils accompanied by members of staff attended Manchester Utd vs. Aston Villa last weekend. The pupils had an excellent time and we are hoping to organise another one asap.
35 pupils attended the BBL Finals at the Emirates Arena last weekend. Pupils had a great day out and were a credit as always to our school.
Thnaks to all pupils and staff that gave blood last week to the transfusion services last week. They could not speak highly enough of our pupils and their commitment to helping others.
Congratulations to Marc Kelly and Marc Skelton as they travel to Malta representing their country at Under 16's Football.
Our Under 18's are due to play St Margaret's HS on the 23rd April in their League Play Off Semi-Final. Our 16's play the next day vs. Strathaven Academy.
Erin Casey and Kaitlyn Crombie have both been selected to be Games Youth Legacy Ambassadors. The games are only over 100 days away. We have been invited to join with other schools in a day to celebrate the comin games. Monday was wear your trainers to work day and this was a great success. The girls are collecting trainers that have been pre-used but have some life left in them and could be used by those less fortunate in the 3rd world. Trainers will be collected from 10th March to 15th March.
Homeroom this week has focused upon Lent and has involved a series of lessons on self-reflection.
Thanks to all who contributed to our annual Careers Fayre. As always, it was of great help to our pupils informing and advising them in their future careers.

This week in Homeroom was the annual Holocaust memorial week. Pupils remembered those who suffered and perished during this period through a series of lessons, and visits to the School Oratory for prayer and reflection.
Congratulations to our Under 16's Football team who are in the Scottish Shield Quarter Finals. They have been a credit to the school throughout.

Auditions for Principal roles in We Will Rock You take place at lunch time, in the theatre on Weds 21st and 22nd.If you wish to audition please prepare a verse and chorus from a Queen Song that features in the show.
If you want to start saving your money, join the school's credit union in association with Scot West Credit Union and recieve a excellent return on your money. Application forms are available from the Red Social Area and open every monday during Homeroom and break.
In the last few weeks, 14 of our most talented athletes had the opportunity to visit Gleneagles Golf Course and Hotel to recieve a whole day of lessons from Colin Montgomerie. This was greatly recieved by our pupils and was covered by Sky Sports News throughout the day.
Also, welcome to our new School Chaplain Fr Krystof. Fr Krystof will be known to parishioners at St Luke's Motherwell and we look forward to his chaplaincy. Weekly mass is during Tuesday lunchtime and is consistently well-attended.
It is vitally important that pupils wear the correct uniform at all times. There has been great improvement made and we aim to maintain it.
Forty S5/6 pupils travelled as pilgrims to Lourdes during the September Weekend. This was a unique trip for all involved and thoroughly enjoyed from a spiritual and personal point of view.
S6 pupils applying for University/College should be actively writing first draft personal statements and handing them into referees asap.

Our school now has a Twitter account. Follow CN_HS to recieve daily updates and information from the school. Already it has ganied over 200 followers and we ask that pupils, parents and partners follow our Twitter feed in the near future.
Olympic athlete mentor Rhona Simpson met with 113 senior pupils last week. Rhona has represented Great Britain in women’s hockey in two Olympic Games, and Scotland in the Commonwealth Games.
She captained the team at one of the Olympic games and gave an inspirational presentation to the pupils involved in Senior PE doing both Higher and play in a sports environment classes.
Twelve S6 pupils represented CNHS at the Year of Faith Mass last Sunday. To mark the opening of the Year of Faith at a national level in Scotland, Mass was celebrated on Sunday 4th November in Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral, Motherwell, in the presence of Cardinal O'Brien and wirth the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Mennini. The Cathedral was packed with a congregation comprising almost 500 young people, together with parents, teachers and catechists who listened to the homily of Archbishop Philip Tartaglia, newly returned from the Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelisation.

CNHS Filmclub will begin a trilogy of Tom Cruise films this Friday. It begins with Jerry Maguire and this is for 15's or over only.
We will shortly be joining twitter and will be looking for parents and pupils to follow and obtain instant updates and news for CNHS.
Our Under 15's and 16's continued their undefeated starts to the season. Our 15's won 7-0 vs. St Margarets and the 16's defeated Larkhall Academy 4-1.
On Thursday 11th October is the Church wide launch of the Year of Faith

On the 7th October is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. We are encouraged to say the Rosary during the month of October.
Every day in the oratory there is a liturgical service being held. On a Monday, it is a staff led reflection. On a Tuesday Mass is held by Father Brown. Wednesday is a Rosary led by the RE Department. Thursday is a reflection led by pupils taking part in the Caritas award. Lastly on a Friday, the Rosary is held by the RE Department.

Just in case you had not already heard the school's FILMCLUB was awarded the title of UK FILMCLUB of the Year 2012 at a glitzy awards ceremony in London on Monday - a huge thank you to all staff and pupils who have contributed to the overwhelming success of FILMCLUB at Cardinal Newman High School in our first year!!
The awards Ceremony for participants of the S6 Pope Benedict XVI Caritas Award will be held on the 2nd June at the Glasgow Armadillo.
Supported Study classes are now available within the Pupil Areas
The Duke of Edinburgh award meetings take place every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3.30pm to 5pm in the school’s yellow canteen.
Homework Club-The homework club has restarted, running every Tuesdays at 1.25pm in the library.Pupils who attend regularly will be awarded merits. This is also a volunteering opportunity for S5 or S6 and may be used as part of a CV or personal statement for UCAS.Interested pupils should see Mr M Devlin or Mrs McCormack.
Book Club- Come along to the S1/2 Book Club on Friday lunchtime at 1.15pm in room 3.8. For more info, see Miss Reilly or Mr Smith in English.
Buddy Club- Will take place in the library on Thursday lunchtimes. There will be team games, board games, computer games, nintendo wii's and a chance to chat with senior pupils.
