At the beginning of September this year, Cardinal Newman H.S celebrated in style at the annual awards ceremony for third year and up! We had a very enlightening speech from the Lord Advocate, Elish Angiolini. She had great words of encouragement for our pupils, citing examples of her own upbringing and challenges that helped her succeed. As our guest of honour, Lord Advocate Angiolini had the honour of presenting the awards.
There were three musical intervals throughout the evening; the first was a solo performance by Nicholas Trail singing 'Stars' from the hit musical 'Les Misèrables' followed by the musical stylings of the C.N.H.S Ceilidh Group. The second musical interval was a Fourth Year Vocal Ensemble who did their rendition of 'The Rythm of Life' form the musical 'Sweet Charity'. The final musical interval was a piece played by Darren McGuire, on the flute, accompanied by Garreth Thompson on piano.
The evening went without a hitch and a great time was had by all family members and teachers who were in attendance. Many thanks to all teachers and pupils involved for all their hard work and for producing such a successful evening.
The main award of the night was the Dux award, given to Peter Clelland, who in return gave the Vote of Thanks to well deserved applause.
