Links with industry (private, public and voluntary sectors) include activities such as visits to workplaces, industrialists talking to students in the classroom, and relating class lessons to working life.
| The purpose of these links includes giving students a sharper awareness of: |
the world of work
the different types of industries and occupations
the skills and disciplines required by industry
the attitudes they will need if they are to succeed. |
Motivating students by relating what they do in school to the world of work. Most subjects have some links with industry. However, the following programme of activities will be offered each session to supplement and enhance the students’ experiences.

Newman Enterprise Day to allow students to experience different types of activities which focus on core skills. |

A enterprise skills day allowing students to try a variety of skills such as bricklaying, plumbing, paramedics as well as emphasising skills such as leadership and teamwork. |

A mock interview day for early leavers involving individual interviews and support for job applications.
