Her Majesty's Inspectors visited Cardinal Newman High School in January 2008 to look at the life and work of the school. The report was published on Tuesday 6th May 2008.

There were many positive things in the report with all our key strengths and successes being recognised by the Inspection team.

We achieved:

Five 'excellent' ratings ("outstanding, sector leading")

Eight 'very good' ratings ("major strengths") and

Four 'good ratings' ("important strengths with areas for improvement").

Headteacher Mrs Boyd stated:

"The areas judged to be excellent by HMIe were developing people and partnerships: leadership: engagement of staff in the life and work of the school; success in involving parents, carers and families; and care, welfare and development of pupils.

I think one of the most pleasing aspects of the report is all people associated with our community are covered by these excellent gradings - pupils, teachers, support satff, parents and our parishes and partner agencies. This outstanding report confirms what we have known about our school all along - that we are at the forefront of delivering a first-class and modern education that works for pupils, staff and parents and gives our young people the best possible start in life."

Mrs Boyd and all the teaching staff at Cardinal Newman were delighted with the results of the report.
