Awards Ceremony 2007
Award Winners

In October 2007, some of our pupils were invited to North Lanarkshire Education Headquarters in Kildonan Street, Coatbridge. The invitation was extended to these pupils as they had achieved eight subjects in S4 at Standard Grade 1 or equivalent. The S6 pupils had achieved 5 Highers at grade A in their fifth year. The award was to celebrate their academic success in the 2006/2007 academic year.

For Cardinal Newman High School this meant sending nine S5 pupils and three S6 pupils. This was the most pupils sent for any school in North Lanarkshire.

The event took place after school, where Mrs Boyd attended with the successful pupils. The pupils were treated to a speech by Christine Pollock (Executive Director, Leisure and Learning Services) and were presented with a certificate from Jane Liddell (Head of Education Quality and Development, Learning and Leisure Services). Pupils were called out school by school to collect their award. After the awards were presented, pupils helped themselves to a buffet and also got the chance to speak and mingle with other highly successful pupils from different schools.  The event was thoroughly enjoyed by the pupils present. One pupil stated "I enjoyed the day and it was a good opportunity to meet other people"

The ceremony was filmed and the pupils were provided with a DVD of the event to keep.

Images below have been taken from the DVD.
